Car Seat Installation
Car Seat Installation Class
Car Seats

Four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly and may not protect children in motor vehicle accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Sometimes, parents do not read the directions, or think the directions are wrong. Sometimes, the seat may be installed correctly in the family car, but not when it is moved to the grandparents’  or  babysitter’s vehicle because that vehicle has a different system for installing car seats.

Northwest Fire Station offers monthly car seat installation classes.  Seating is limited and advance registration is required.

Parents unable to afford safety seats may also  receive free child safety seats if they qualify.  To receive a free car seat, parents must attend the class and present AHCCCS cards or evidence of  belonging to another governmental medical care program. The car seats are appropriate for children 19 to 40 inches long, weighing five to 40 pounds. The number of free seats is limited; they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a maximum of one seat per child.
